WIIS Campus Launch Event

On November 24th 2020, WIIS Campus series Let’s Get Inspired kick-started with the online launch event on “Who Are the Women Professionals in International Security”. Three WIIS Brussels members – Isabelle François, Claire Craanen and Corinna Hörst presented their career paths to the audience. They also provided advice on the guiding principles that young women professionals should follow when transitioning to the job market. The WIIS Campus team wants to thank them for their eager participation and inspiring thoughts. If you missed it, our main takeaways are:

#1 – Be Prepared

This discussion pinpointed the need for increased awareness of what comes after University. In this very competitive work environment, preparation and skills are key, as a woman especially – be extra competent.

#2 – Be Resilient

The speakers insisted on the flexible nature of a working life in international security. Seizing opportunities, which might come unexpected, is crucial to adapt to careers that are not linear anymore – stay open-minded and flexible.

#3 – Be Bold

Self-reflection is decisive in determining our passions. By being authentic and always focusing on our strengths, we can truly bring added-value to our jobs. This is also a platform to increase our voices – speak up, be yourself!

#4 – Be Connected

Networks speak for who we are and Brussels’ bubbles are interconnected. Our contacts can be a vital source of motivation, help and support – reach out, be inspired!

We thank all participants for joining and enriching the discussion. We will be back soon!
