WIIS Brussels Consultation on Women & Security – with Women from the United States of America

Our next WIIS Consultation on Security will take place on 21 May 2025 and focus on the multifaceted experiences of security of female thinkers and security experts coming from and/or based in the United States of America (USA).

In the current highly dynamic geopolitical shifts, this first edition of the WIIS Consultations in 2025 with US female leaders will be an informal online conversation with a small group of members of WIIS Brussels and other selected guests. Please note that this is not a panel discussion or similar, but rather a sharing of personal experiences in a safe space. The discussion will take place in English.

Through this Consultation initiative, WIIS Brussels set out to develop a platform to broker new informal ways to address security issues in a polarized world. This “off the record” Consultation on Women and Security among security experts and practitioners offers a path to explore what security means to us individually and collectively, beyond the rituals of “official Brussels”, the rules of engagement, agreed
language, and cultural biases. It allows us to debate security putting people first, as well as justice and equity.
