Our next session of the WIIS Brussels bookclub is coming up and we are excited to invite you to discuss our next book: When Women Were Dragons by Kelly Barnhill.

Kelly Barnhill is an author and teacher. She has written several middle grade novels, including New York Times bestsellers The Ogress and The Orphans and The Girl Who Drank the Moon, which won the 2017 John Newbery Medal. When Women Were Dragons is a fiery feminist fantasy tale set in 1950s America where thousands of women have spontaneously transformed into dragons, exploding notions of a woman’s place in the world and expanding minds about accepting others for who they really are.

📅 When: Wednesday, September 10, 2025
⏰ Time: 18:30 – 19:30 (CEST)
🌐 Where: The Nine, rue Archimède 69, 1000 Brussels

Feel free to bring your questions, favorite quotes, or observations about the book to the discussion. Don’t worry if you haven’t finished it—come ready to share your thoughts!
