WIIS Brussels looks forward for a new session of  its consultations on the evolving concept of security this autumn. Are you in?

Building on our past experience with this unique process, we will continue to explore what ‘security’ means to us personally, how this concept is changing and what role communities play in shaping a secure environment for us. This is an opportunity for you, WIIS Brussels members and friends, to engage beyond expertise and to come as a community to reflect and share your stories or perceptions of security. 

We seek ways to be more inclusive and we always look for opportunities for greater diversity in our approaches, opening up to other communities of women. For our next round of consultation in November, we will be joined by a group of Colombian women from various backgrounds and professional portfolios. They include professionals in the field of human rights, activities, officials and others.  

This WIIS Consultation will enable to share perspectives on women’s roles in peace and security in Colombia, and generate further discussion on aspects of human security. However, it requires a proper exchange of perspectives on our respective experiences, and that means that we want to hear from you, our members to also share with our guests from your personal stories. This is not meant to be about the situation in Colombia. It is an opportunity to bring women together and find resonance, greater understanding for our respective experiences of security today, whatever may be our specific environment.

In any event, this is not about what you will hear in substance, but rather about the experience of sharing with one another.
