‘Gender’ is largely understood to be a synonym for ‘women’. Though the connections between masculinities, violence and peace are multiple, policy-makers struggle to engage with the topic.
Working on masculinities yields significant potential to a more transformative approach to violence and peace. The objective of this event is to grow awareness amongst our target audience of different types of masculinities and their relevance to international security policy and practice.
Engaging with expert stakeholders from government, civil society and academia, the event will look into both opportunities and risks associated with integrating masculinities in international security, offering practical recommendations for gender practitioners at the national and international level.
