Romana Michelon

Romana is a political scientist with over seven years of experience in NATO and the EEAS, where she worked in the fields of conflict resolution, security and defense. Most recently, she worked on Women, Peace and Security in the Human Security Unit in the Office of the NATO Secretary General. Over the years, Romana specialized in issues of gender, peace and security, and she is currently a rostered civilian expert with the Dutch MFA. As Secretary General of WIIS Brussels, Romana works towards the meaningful inclusion of women in the security and defence sector. In 2018, she co-founded WIIS@NATO, which discusses current security challenges through a gendered lens. Romana is currently senior consultant EU affairs at Berenschot in Brussels. She has research experience at the German Marshall Fund, King’s College London, and FRIDE. Romana has a BA in European Studies, an MSc in International Relations, and an MA in Conflict Resolution.
