Anne Schintgen is currently the Head of the Brussels-based Europe Liaison Office of the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict covering relations with the EU, NATO, OSCE and Geneva-based human rights mechanisms. She previously worked in New York as a Political Affairs Officer with the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict covering among others the issue of children and armed conflict in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Somalia, South Sudan and the Sudan. Before working for the UN, Anne served in different functions with the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Luxembourg including in New York as an advisor to the Permanent Representative during Luxembourg’s term on the UN Security Council, in Burkina Faso as Deputy Head of the Luxembourg Embassy and in Luxembourg as programme manager for development cooperation with Mali and Senegal. Anne holds an LLM in International Humanitarian Law from the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian and Human Rights Law and an LLM in United Nations Law from the University of Glasgow and beforehand studied law at the University of Strasbourg, France. She also completed the Oxford Women’s Leadership Development Programme with the Said Business School of Oxford University. She is speaking Luxembourgish, German, French and English and is currently learning Dutch.
